Diet Coke & Its Negative Effect on Weight Loss

We all love those amazing soft drinks. Since the past few years the demand for diet friendly soft drinks is at all time high. Drinks like Coke Zero, Diet Coke, Diet Pepsi and now even Diet Sprite can be easily seen at almost all shops dealing in food items. They are regularly consumed by people who are trying to watch their weight or lose it. Lets take a look at the Positive & Negative Effects of these Zero Sugar Drinks

Pros

1. Zero Calories
These drinks do offer what they promise. No Calories whatsoever. So you can drink as many of these you want in a day and still stay under your calorie goal, if you’ve set any.

2. Great Taste
These drinks taste almost like their sugar containing counterparts. So, you are not compromising on the taste.

And that’s all. I couldn’t think of or find any other effects which can be categorised as positive.

Cons

1. Not Effective in Weight Loss
Diet Soda doesn’t help with weight loss. Ironic, huh? But its the truth. These drinks contain Artificial Sweeteners, which confuse our body into thinking its real sugar. And our Body produces insulin as a response, which sends your body into fat storage mode and leads to weight gain.

2. Not Good For Health
Artificial Sweeteners used in these Drinks are known to have following bad effects on our body:

  • Increased Risk of Type-2 Diabetes. The type you don’t want.
  • Causes Migraines.
  • Zero Nutritional Value.
  • Increases your Sugar Cravings.
  • Its bad for bones & heart.

Our Body craves for sugar, and sugar addiction is a real thing. So if you feed your body something other than sugar, the craving won’t go away. It makes more sense to feed your body what it wants and get it over with, rather than loading up on these fake sugar like substance containing which are in the long run are harming your overall health. Just make sure you don’t over do it.

3-4 Cans of Regular soft drinks in a month aren’t going to harm you, as compared to the significant damage which diet drinks will do.
